Green pastures, are they really green?

 
 
I've met some good ole' folks that are always searching for "greener pastures". Are there really greener pastures out there? I've found that what looks like greener pastures can turn brown during the fall and winter seasons. I've never really looked for "greener pastures" I've always just looked for the good in all things that come my way. Just like cancer, what appears to bad and aweful can turn into something good if I choose to look for the good.

Things might look greener and easy, but I think all things are for a purpose, a reason under the sun. I need to learn to open my mind, my sight and seek for the good out of all things. Cancer has taught me this so that I can spend my life offering hope and encouragement to everyone I meet!

How are those green pastures looking to you? Mine are looking a little snowy this time of the season. I love the seasons of life, winter reminds me that spring is on it's way!

Reflect and Grow!

Think about the last time you were sitting around, driving, reading or connecting with someone when you had that "mental flashback" of something that was key to who you are today, that tipping point. I've had many of these good "flashbacks". I call them "Reflections" from the good times. This past weekend while sharing my program; "The Three Keys of Encouragement" with a group at their fall conference I read from my journal from my cancer treatment days last year. The piece I read was dated March 17, 2009 about sitting in the main waiting room at the Cancer Clinic when I noticed a young girl (9-13) come through with what I'll guess was her dad. This young girl had a bright smile, she was talking and laughing with her companion when I noticed she had only one leg.

Sitting there I thought to myself "WOW" we both have something in common, we've been blessed! We are alive, we both are enjoying life no matter what was happening or happened in our life's. Then in a split second she gave me hope, hope to get through my day of Radiation and Chemo treatments. If she can enjoy her day so can I!

It's not about cancer, it's about you - Book Release Summer 2011

I'm thinking I can overcome cancer, beat it, win the battle and live life to my fullest potential. I'm thinking it all starts there, thoughts,believe and action. I can if I think I can. I'm the winner, the victory is mine. My thinking determines my actions, and my actions determine my outcome.

It's not about cancer, it's about me. I can't let the cancer over rule me, control my thoughts or my dreams. it's my choice how I think and what I think about. These were some of my thoughts while taking my radiation treatments and making the four hour round trip drive for 33 treatments. I had to stay my course, never give up and conquer my dreams.

I'm thinking yes I can win the battle, yes I am in control and yes I will keep living and enjoying my gift of life. How about you? Don't give in or give up, it's your life live it!

The gift of life

Let's paint a picture, sit back, close your eyes and think about this very powerful and motivational question. Let's say your 99 years young andsitting on your front porch relaxing in your Ole wooden rocking chair. You have no one to answer too but yourself, and the question is asked; what did you do with this gift of life that you've been gifted with?

Not what did you get?

Not how did you live it?

But, what did you do to make a difference?

What will your legacy be?

Never Give Up...

I have Six Reasons to Keep Living and Enjoying Your Gift of Life, and one is "Never Give Up". Keep thinking good thoughts, keep changing the channel of bad thoughts, keep moving and thinking I can do it, I'm not giving up.

The Cancer journey can be hard, long and relentless. The battle can inspire you or beat you. The fears can damage your thinking or encourage your abilities. What I've experienced is that it's my choice on what I choose to think about, buy into, and those choices can make me or break me. I choose to never give up, keep fighting the good fight for life, the good fight to live to give. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones that can still keep fighting, not just for me but for others. Life's gift is ment to be lived to give. Success is defined by the seeds that I sow not the harvest that I reap.

Never give up, keep fighting the good fight for life.

If Adam Bender can do it, you can do it!

The Ride

Debbie and I enjoy getting out on a awesome day and riding the Harley. Dinner rides on a Saturday night you can't beat, the wind blowing in your hair (not much for me) the fresh air, the sound of the Harley, great riding. Then "BAM" a bump, a small hole, a rough road, you can feel the road on your bottom real fast, but you keep going, keep rolling on.

Same with the treatments, the ride with Cancer treatments, there are plenty of bumps, rough roads, hard hits, you can feel them deep down but you keep rolling on to the next smooth road. You look ahead for the nice ride, take the rough roads with the good roads, you enjoy the ride no matter how rough the road gets. When you're on your ride if the weather changes, you adjust, rain suites, helmets, you handle the ride until you can find a resting place. With the Cancer treatments, you adjust, you ride it out until you get to a good place (mentally) to rest. Then you rest, let your mind and body relax, then get ready for the next day.

Ride safe and enjoy the ride!
