it is very possible that she has lice. are there pachets under her mane?On the other hand my mare also lost pachets of hair when she lost weight from having the flue(she was already underweight when I bought her and then the flue knocked more out) the vet told me her missing hair was like people and just stress.BUt I'd dust your mare just in case. Also if the pachets are in a perfect circle and start to show sores she may have ringworm. that is highly contageous so you may want to wash your brushes and get her checked out by a vet so it doesn't spread to the rest of her
