Yes you read that right, that's what I called them, the 'feeding tube" people. Those were the experts that knew just what I needed when I didn't. This was the process that scared me the most upfront when it came to the whole treatment process. Thinking of this thing hanging out of my stomach, wondering what do I do if it falls out or in?!
The "Feeding Tube" people were right on, by the time I hit week four of radiation treatments, I wonder today what would have come of me without the ability to let that thing suck in all that aweful ensure. By week five I was up to six plus bottles a day, this was my food, my strength, my mission everyday day. it kept me alive I'm sure of it today.
If I had to coach anyone that went through head & neck cancer with radiation in the neck or throat area, I would highly recommend listening and tursting your Oncology Team. My recommendation is get home from treatments if you can or in your room, hook it up and pour the ensure and lay back and watch TV, the older the shows the better, then nap alittle. I was blessed to have part of my "cancer fighting team" daily with me on the coach, Whitey and his girl friend PeeWee, My kids (cats) everyday they would relax with me and cheer me on!
The "N" in C.A.N.C.E.R means "Never Give up"!
Sincerely,
The Cancer Fighting Specialist
